Editing & Formatting
This tool allows you to write or paste standard ChordPro text. Chords go in brackets like [G] and directives use curly braces like {title: Song Name}.
- Transpose: Instantly change the key of your song using the +/- buttons. The tool intelligently determines sharps and flats based on the detected key.
- Interactive Styling: In the preview pane, simply highlight any text with your mouse (or finger) to reveal a popup menu that lets you bold, italicise, or clear formatting for that specific word or phrase.
- Layout: Toggle between 1 or 2 columns, adjust line spacing, chord sizes, and gap heights from the "Format" menu.
Importing from PDF
You can directly open a PDF chord sheet using the Open button. The tool will attempt to extract the layout, map floating chords down to the lyrics, and convert it into standard ChordPro format.
- Smart Extraction: It analyses the horizontal position of floating chords to accurately place them directly inside the lyrics.
- Image/Scanned PDFs (OCR): If a PDF is a scan or an image, the tool will automatically detect this and use Optical Character Recognition (Tesseract.js) to read the text. Note: The first time you use OCR, it will take a moment to download the language engine.
Known Import Limitations:
- Highly stylised fonts or poor-quality scans may result in misread chords or lyrics.
- Complex layouts (e.g., multiple columns in the source PDF) may not parse perfectly and will require manual tidying in the editor.
- If a line has an unusual mix of chords and text, the algorithm might miscategorise it. Always double-check your imported sheets!
